This page lists every cookie this website sets, what each one does, and how long it lasts. We counted them by loading the site in a clean browser and reading what was actually stored, rather than describing what a site like this usually sets.
The short version. There are three. Two are Google Analytics, which tells us which pages get read. One remembers whether you are reading in English or Spanish. There is no advertising cookie on this site, because there is no advertising on this site.
What a cookie is
A small file a website asks your browser to keep, so that something can be remembered between one page and the next. Some last only while your browser is open. Others persist until they expire or you delete them.
The cookies this site sets
| Name | Set by | What it does | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga |
Google Analytics | Distinguishes one visitor from another so page views are not all counted as the same person | 400 days |
_ga_W5YRYJGN9V |
Google Analytics | Keeps the session state for our specific Analytics property | 400 days |
pll_language |
This site | Remembers whether you chose English or Spanish, so you are not sent back to the wrong version | 365 days |
That is the complete list for a visitor. Three cookies, none of them used for advertising.
Two things that are not cookies on this site, but are worth explaining
The anti-bot check on our free tools. Our tools are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which stops automated abuse. It runs from challenges.cloudflare.com and keeps its state on that domain, not on ours, so it does not place a cookie on digitalchk.com. If you block third party content from Cloudflare, the tools will not be able to run.
Staff login. WordPress sets session cookies when somebody signs in to administer the site. That applies to us, not to visitors. If you have never logged in here, you have never received one.
Why we do not show a cookie banner
We would rather write this page than interrupt you with a dialog. If you are in a jurisdiction that requires consent for analytics cookies and you would prefer we did not set them, you can block them in your browser as described below, and the site will work normally. We keep this under review, and if the rules that apply to our visitors change, this page and our practice will change with them.
How to refuse or remove them
Every browser lets you see, block and delete cookies from its settings, usually under Privacy. You can block all cookies, block only third party cookies, or delete what is already stored.
You can also opt out of Google Analytics across every site you visit using Google’s browser add-on.
Blocking the Analytics cookies costs you nothing here: the site works exactly the same. Blocking Cloudflare content will stop the free tools from running, because the anti-bot check is what keeps them free and available.
Changes
If we add, remove or change a cookie, we will update this table and the date at the top. If we ever introduce a category we do not use today, such as advertising, we will say so clearly and ask for consent before setting it.
