What is EXIF Reader?
EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) is a standard for storing metadata in image files, primarily JPEG and TIFF. Digital cameras and smartphones embed EXIF data in every photo, recording the camera make and model, lens focal length, aperture (f-stop), shutter speed, ISO sensitivity, flash status, white balance, image dimensions, and the date and time the photo was taken. GPS-enabled devices also embed latitude, longitude, altitude, and direction. EXIF data is invisible in the image itself but is readable by image viewers and editors. It is used by photo management software for organization, by photographers for technical analysis, and by forensic investigators for verifying image authenticity and origin. Many people are unaware that photos posted to social media may contain GPS data that reveals their precise location — this tool lets you inspect and understand what metadata your images contain.
